"On PACE to Hawaii" - The Ultimate Team Effort

The ISES Indiana Chapter’s annual PACE (Professional Achievement in Creative Events) Awards was not only a wonderful event but was a successful ISES Team Effort.
There were a total of 17 companies who collaborated on this festive event. The theme was chosen to help promote ISES Eventworld 2006 in Honolulu, Hawaii on August 24th-26th.

In keeping with the Hawaiian theme, guests were greeted by fire throwing performers and traditional leis. After going through registration, tasty hors d’ouerves and cocktails were enjoyed by all in a Hawaiian resort complete with tiki bar. During the cocktail hour all of the evening’s entries were displayed for all to appreciate. Guests were escorted to the 2nd level where they were greeted with three brilliantly themed food stations and a dessert station. With each station being sponsored by a different ISES member the attendees were treated to a variety of tropical foods

The evening proceeded with the annual awards show. With 18 awards given, guests enjoyed a cleverly written show that honored everyone who had entered.

Team work is the only way this event could have been successful. As a chapter, 17 members came together to create a memorable awards night for all.

A huge thanks to our sponsors!

Member Spotlight

Elizabeth Stone
Event Sales & Marketing
Mo’s – A Place for Steaks

I moved to Indianapolis in 2002 from Atlanta, Georgia to go to school. Having experience in the restaurant industry, I started a job serving in a restaurant downtown. I eventually made the transition to fine dining and started working at Mo’s A Place for Steaks in 2004. Last summer, I took the position of Event Sales & Marketing Manager for the steakhouse. My job is to get everyone to know about Mo’s and what our company is all about. I am also in charge of the sales of our 3 private dining rooms and buyouts at our restaurant. For more information, please e-mail me at elizabeth@mosrestaurants.com

Mo’s A Place for Steaks opened our doors in August 2003 and is still the newest prime steakhouse downtown. What separates us from every other restaurant in the city is our service and our atmosphere. We are dedicated to building guest relationships and doing whatever it is necessary to meeting the needs of our guests. The Mo’s brand started in Milwaukee in 1999 and has since then opened many other concepts. So far, we only have the steakhouse in Indianapolis but are looking to open the other concepts in just a matter of time. You can find out more about our restaurants at www.mosrestaurants.com

I joined ISES because I thought it would be great way to network and meet more people in the industry. I have already met a lot of great people! I love my job and what I do and I am proud of what I represent and the product that I have to offer. I look forward to the time that we have ahead of us and meeting all the great people in our industry!
I am happily married to a wonderful man named Tim Stone and have a 6 year old daughter named Charity and a 5 year old daughter named Taylor. We enjoy spending all the time that we can get together and love to travel every chance we get.

Board Member Spotlight
Lori Gwinn Fields
Director at Large – Outreach Project

I began my career in the events industry in 1995 as an administrative assistant at Indiana University School of Medicine. This position was an assistant to a director responsible for special events among many other duties. I was instantly turned on to the events part of the job where I could be creative and meet many people.

When I finished my degree from I.U. in 1996, I was offered the newly created position of Assistant Director for Special Events at Indiana University School of Medicine. I accepted the job and have had the opportunity to build the special events area into what it is today. We plan and host an average of 40 cultivation and stewardship donor events a year.

Since I’ve been with the same organization for my entire events experience, I search out opportunities to get involved with other events throughout the city. I do this through my work with ISES Outreach Project events and by volunteering with the Children’s Bureau, Inc. assisting with their special events.

While still new to the events industry, I joined ISES in 1997. It served as an excellent educational resource for me as I was building the special events area at the School. Today, I still work with many of the vendors I have come to know through ISES. The networking, committee and board of directors’ positions I’ve held throughout the years have allowed me to become the professional I am today. Thank you, ISES!

On a personal note, I am happily married to Bryan, a south side business owner, and we have wonderful children. My eldest son is beginning college in the fall 2005 while my younger one is beginning kindergarten, and the newest addition to the family is our precious 13 month old daughter, Alayna. A part from family, I enjoy spending time with friends, cooking new recipes, swimming, and boating.
