Gene Huddleson
Detail
+ Design
Having
been in the event industry for over twenty years, and
traveling throughout the country and
abroad, L. Gene Huddleson II has assembled a wonderful
background in special events. Gene began his career in
Los Angeles, California where he spent thirteen years living
and working in the special events industry. Gene has also
worked in New York, New Jersey, Florida as well as in Europe
accumulating many styles and techniques along the way.
Gene brought his company to Indianapolis in 1997 starting
as LGH Design Group, a design, floral and décor
company. He expanded in 2003 to become Detail + Design,
a full service event company offering floral and décor
aspects as well as event coordination, logistics, transportation,
show production and destination management.
With his vast experience, he has been able to bring
new and exciting aspects to all of the events he
produces.
“
I believe in giving all of my clients my personal attention. I am involved in
all aspects of each event, including creating many of the items which are designed
for the event.” He looks at the event as a whole rather than in pieces
giving his clients a cohesive event from start to finish.
Floral design is an extensive part of his background.
The use of color, texture and style has always
been a particular passion for Gene. This passion
is
extended to each of his client’s events.
Gene
was chosen to be a holiday designer at the Vice President's
residence for the 1995 and 1996 holiday
seasons. “This was a thrill that I will never
forget and a personal highlight of my career so far.”
Always looking towards the future he continues to search
for new and fun ways to thrill an event audience
with both beautiful and theatrical
moments.
Gene believes in personal time and regularly treats
himself to spa days and unscheduled “days
off” where he will catch a movie, shop and work on the design of his next
home.
Gene also believes in giving back to the community
and works on at least three different charity events
and committees per year. “Sometimes it can be
the smallest of contributions that mean the most.” He believes that we
all have time for a little charity and everyone gets back what they put out into
the world. Gene’s
ISES Story:
About
three years ago or so, when I had just began and business
was slow I thought of leaving Indianapolis and
move back to Los Angeles. I decided to give the events
community in Indianapolis another try and sponsored an
ISES lunch where I provided the linens, centerpieces and
décor. Needless to say that was the BEST and most
IMPORTANT thing I did for my company.
Getting involved DOES payoff in more ways than just
business and money. I have met people who have
and will become cherished
friends who keep me thinking and going on a daily basis.
Throughout the ISES community there are people that love
to help and learn through each other and those are people
and lessons that have brought me the most joy.
“If you want to succeed then you have to get involved!”
