December Meeting Recap

For those of us that attended the December joint luncheon with IMPI, ISES, and Minorities in Hospitality we learned how to know when someone is lying to us – and to be aware of left-hand gestures. Jan Hargrave, our speaker, told us how to know more about a person by being aware of others’ movements. We found out that understanding body language is helpful in both our business and personal lives. Our “tropical” luncheon was delicious! Thank you Holiday Inn Select North for hosting our luncheon on your opening day of your Caribbean Cove.

ISES Indiana would like to everyone who donated to the Toys for Tots campaign. We would also like to thank IMPI for arranging this year’s joint meeting!

Thank you to you December Sponsors: Holiday Inn Select North and Aramark Catering

The Scoop

Here’s the scoop on member news…

  • Enflora is looking for a new Design Consultant. Check the ISES Indiana job board for more details and contact information.
  • Detail and Design will be expanding their services to include: Designed for Life, interior design, both home and office. Detailed to Sell, a service that will help home sellers stage their homes when they put them on the market and D+DEXT, a service that offers exterior design and landscaping.
  • Hoaglin To Go Cafe & Marketplace on Mass Ave is so successful and popular that they are already expanding their dining area by another 50%!! Their patrons are thrilled and now those of you who have missed out because of lines can stop on by! The expansion is anticipating completion by mid-January
  • The baby boom continues in the ISES Indiana Chapter
    - Monica Cochran and her husband Bill are very proud new parents! William Cole Cochran was born Oct 7, 2004. Although Monica loved her job at Enflora, she loves being a mommy more, and is fortunate to be able to stay at home with him.

Board Member Spotlight

Kari Strolberg, CSEP
Kari’s expertise lies in the management and production of large civic events, award-winning corporate events, sporting events and regional festivals. Her production credits include high-profile events such as the Indy Jazz Fest Volunteer Program, one of the largest music festivals in Indiana; the Rotary International Convention, which hosted over 18,000 international attendees; the Indiana Derby Gala at Hoosier Park, which is a black tie gala and hospitality for the running of the Indiana Derby; and the grand opening of Planet Hollywood Indianapolis, which brought crowds of people to downtown Indy to see movie stars unveil the local restaurant. Her work on these events, as well as many others, including Explore IUPUI, the Indianapolis Children’s Museum’s Dinosphere Grand Opening and Mickey’s Camp has earned her national recognition and industry awards.
