ISES Member Profile
Vince Early, CSEP – ISES Indiana V.P. of Education

Vince Early, CSEP a native of Indianapolis, started working for Thomas Caterers of Distinction to earn extra money in High School and then to help work his way through Collage. After graduating from Ball State University with a Degree in Music Education, Vince quickly realized a Teaching salary alone would not get him very far. Therefore he continued to work for Thomas Caterers whenever his schedule allowed. After 6 years of teaching, the opportunity presented itself for Vince to quit teaching and work full time as Staffing Coordinator for Thomas Caterers. After a year of recruiting, training, motivating and evaluating staff, Vince began coordinating events and has been at it for 5 years.

When Vince is not planning and executing events he enjoys spending his time with his daughter Christina, 10, and his wife Kelly who happens to be the Owner and GM of Thomas Caterers of Distinction. He also enjoys traveling and playing tennis.

“I think the position I hold on the ISES Board fits me like a glove”, observes ISES Indiana V.P. of Education. “Education is the key to broadening your horizons personally and professionally. Every seminar I attend, every speaker I see, I learn something. Even if the thing I learn is ‘Don’t do that’”. In an effort to continue educating himself, Vince attained his Certified Special Event Professional (CSEP) Designation at the Conference for Professional Development (now EventWorld). “I believe it is a vital part in becoming a professional in the Event Industry. It is a great way to separate oneself from coordinators who either do this as a hobby or do it poorly. It may not be the only way, but it’s the best way I have found. The truth is studying for the CSEP truly make me a better event professional”.

Sue and Tim Thomas established Thomas Caterers of Distinction in 1983 by after the fire of an arsonist destroyed their very successful restaurant in the fall of that year. It was to be a temporary arrangement until plans could be completed to re-open the doors of Thomas’ Restaurant. 20 years later Thomas Caterers of Distinction stands as one of the finest catering companies in the city of Indianapolis. Thomas specializes in bringing the cuisine and service of the finest restaurants in the world to the event industry.
